Qld: Body of man chased into river found after three days

BRISBANE, April 7 AAP - Police have found the body of a man in the Burnett River at
Bundaberg three days after he was chased into the waterway by police.

A police spokeswoman said a coroner's report was being prepared and the police ethical
standards command was investigating the incident.

She said the 29-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, was attempting
to evade police on Wednesday night when he disappeared in the river.

He had fled on foot from the city's central business district about 11pm (AEST) and
was followed to the river by police.

However, an officer failed to find the man despite entering the water after him and
later finding clothing and footprints on the river banks.
