NSW: Star City staff vote in favour of 24 hour strike
Croupiers, security guards and bar staff are to walk off the job at Sydney's Star City
Casino at the weekend.
TIM FERRARI, of the Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers' Union, says members
had voted in favour of a 24-hour strike after a breakdown in pay talks.
A casino spokeswoman says the strike will affect its busiest period but denies it'll
shut down its operations.
MR FERRARI says 1,800 staff are expected to take part in the strike, which he says
will effectively paralyse casino operations.
Management had offered staff a pay increase of 8.75 per cent over three years, but
staff are asking for 15 per cent over two years.
